|
No, you file a single combined federal and provincial income tax return. Forms to calculate your B.C. income tax are included with your T1 income tax forms. |
What forms do I need to calculate my B.C. income tax? |
|
The B.C. tax calculation is done on Form BC428. This form provides for rates and brackets, deduction of all non-refundable credits, and additions to tax in special circumstances. In addition, a worksheet may be required to assist in completing the BC428.
Form BC479 is used to calculate B.C. refundable tax credit amounts.
Schedule BC (S2) may be required for transferring amounts from a spouse or common-law partner.
Schedule BC (S11) may be required for calculating provincial tuition and education amounts. |
I am having problems filling out the forms. Who should I call for assistance? |

Will I get a Low Income Climate Action Tax Credit? |
Is there a B.C. Dividend Tax Credit? |
|
Yes. In 2006, the calculation of the B.C. dividend tax changed. Please use the provincial worksheet included in your income tax return package.
Please see Dividend Tax Credit for more information. |
Do I have to fill out a TD1BC form each year? |
|
If you have previously completed a TD1BC form for your current employer and your tax credits have not changed, you do not need to complete a new form.
If you have not previously completed a TD1BC form, you will need to do so for your employer to calculate the correct amount of tax to withhold from your wages.
If no TD1BC is completed, your employer will calculate your tax as though the only provincial credit you may claim is the B.C. basic personal amount.
Please see Source Deductions for more information. |
