How can I amend a form once it's been filed? |
|
Most of our forms include guidelines on how to complete, file and amend them. (See our Forms page.) Some forms require the entire form to be
re-submitted for amendments. Others require only the changed information to be re-submitted.
For example, the guidelines for the BC-S1, Monthly Production Statement indicate you should list only wells with amended volumes when amending reported production. Do not re-submit the entire BC-S1. |
|
The due date varies by form. Please see our Reporting Due Dates page. The due dates are also included in the forms' guidelines on the
Forms page.
Please note, when the due date falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, the form is due by the following business day. |
Who must file a BC-11, Notice of Suspension or Commencement of Operations form? |
|
A BC-11 must be filed to report any of the following operations at a well.
The operator of the well is responsible for submitting the form in the following situations:
- testing operations prior to the well being tied in to a gas gathering system
- commencement or suspension of production
- commencement or suspension of injection or disposal
- resumption of production, injection or disposal
|
Who must file a BC-12, Reporting Interest Statement form? |
|
A BC-12 must be filed whenever there is an addition or change to an ownership interest in a well or tract.
The operator of the facility is responsible for submitting the form in the following situations:
- a new well is connected to the facility (oil or gas)
- gas from an oil well event starts to be gathered for sale
- royalty/tax paying responsibilities of partners change because they begin or stop taking their share of production in kind
- they have acquired an interest in an existing well that is already connected to a facility

I get confused about the Oil and Gas Commission, the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, and the Ministry of Finance. Who is responsible for what? |
|
The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources promotes and facilitates the development of sustainable and competitive energy and mineral resource sectors for British Columbians. The Ministry also manages oil and gas titles.
The Oil and Gas Commission (OGC) regulates the crude oil, natural gas
and pipeline activities in the province. The OGC acts as a single-window regulatory and permitting agency for the upstream oil and gas industry
and pipelines.
The Ministry of Finance assesses, collects, verifies and reports Crown royalties and freehold production taxes payable by the petroleum industry. We also administer the Oil and Gas Commission Levy. |
Payment of Overdue Balance FAQs
Can I make instalment payments? |
|
When agreed upon, short term payment arrangements are considered for a period of six months or less. For approval of payment proposals which are longer than six months, we require that you provide detailed financial information, and it will be necessary to secure the debt by registering a lien against your property. Interest continues to accrue on all unpaid balances. |

Do you accept credit card payments? |
|
No, we do not accept credit card payments. |
Are you a private collection agency? |
|
No, we are not a private collection agency. The Receivables Management Office is a branch of the Ministry of Finance that collects outstanding taxes owing to the province. |
What do you mean by "Legal Action"? |
|
The province has available remedies that it may use to collect overdue taxes under its various tax statutes. These remedies include:
- Demands on bank accounts
- Employers and third parties
- Liens
- Certificates of Judgement
- Federal Government refund set-offs
- Writs of Seizure and Sale
|
Will legal actions have an effect on my (my company) credit rating? |
|
This will depend on the collection action which has been undertaken in an attempt to collect the outstanding balance. |
Why have I received a notice from the Land Title Office telling me a Judgement is registered on my property? |
|
The Land Title Office is required to send you a notice informing you that a lien has been registered on your property. This notice gives you an opportunity to dispute the lien if you believe the lien has been filed in error. You may receive this notice after your account has been paid or reversed. |
When will the lien on my property be removed? |
|
We will remove all collection action including a property lien once you have paid the account in full or the assessment of tax has been reversed.
